Attribution, fair use & takedowns.
This archive exists for the purpose of studying and codifying the rhetorical and structural patterns of contrarian investor arguments — and for training a public Claude Code skill that helps authors build persuasive research in that genre.
About this site
Contrarian Corpus is the public evidence base for adversarial-research, a Claude Code skill that helps authors construct contrarian investment arguments. The skill is the primary product; the corpus exists to document the rhetorical and structural patterns the skill encodes, and to provide exemplars the skill can reference.
The underlying documents are publicly-distributed investor presentations, letters and SEC filings authored by activist investors and short sellers. They have been indexed, classified and annotated by the site's editor for the specific purpose of training and illustrating the skill — a transformative research and authoring tool that produces original new work, not a substitute for the source material.
Copyright of each individual document remains with its issuing fund or author. This site:
- Does not redistribute the source PDFs. Every document page provides a direct link to the original host (the fund's own campaign microsite, SEC EDGAR, or a public archive).
- Reproduces a curated selection of slides (typically 3–8 pages out of 80–300) at preview resolution (1500× px), accompanied by original analysis and classification.
- Provides clear attribution — every deck page names the issuing fund and links back to the original source.
- Is non-commercial in its current form.
Fair use
The inclusion of preview-resolution slide images and extracted metadata is made under the doctrine of fair use (17 U.S.C. § 107) and analogous rights under Article 33 of the Spanish Copyright Act and Article 5(3)(d) of EU Directive 2001/29/EC, which permit reproduction for the purposes of criticism, comment, teaching, scholarship, and research.
The use is transformative — it recontextualises individual slides within a taxonomy of rhetorical patterns and supplies original analytical commentary (SCQA decomposition, thesis classification, KPI extraction, visual-craft scoring). Preview images are not a commercial substitute for the original documents, which are themselves freely distributed by their authors as public advocacy materials.
Takedown policy (DMCA / equivalent)
If you are the rights-holder of a document represented on this site and believe its inclusion exceeds what fair use allows — or simply prefer it be removed — a single email will suffice. No argument required.
Please include:
- A link to the deck or slide you'd like removed
- Your name and relationship to the rights-holder
- A brief statement confirming the request (no formal DMCA notice required, but welcome)
We aim to action takedowns within 72 hours. Removed content is cached out of the site immediately; re-appearance is prevented by a slug-level block-list.
